Rakovski Defence and Staff College is the oldest military high school in Bulgaria. It is a successor of
almost 100-year-old traditions in military education and science.

It is located in the center of Sofia in a park that has unique architecture and vegetation.

The College has an international certificate by ISO 9001-2008 for quality education management.

In 2006 the College acquired institutional accreditation of higher educational institution which is the only institution of such kind in the country giving Master's degrees in National Security and Military Art , including 13 spec. It is also accredited to give PhDs in 15 scientific fields.

The post-educational courses are very popular – yearly more than 1000 attendants in about 80 courses with various duration, from two weeks to five months.

The College offers highly qualified academic staff including 62 professors with PhD.

Officers studying at the College have the possibility to acquire Master's Degree or PhD.

Civilians studying at the College have the excellent advantage to establish contacts with key figures from the Ministry of Defence and the Bulgarian Armed Forces, and to acquire unique knowledge about the functioning of the military system.

In the master programmes and in the specialised courses there are annually about forty officers from NATO or PfP countries.

All students receive high quality education.

The College is an active participant in the international activities of the Ministry of Defence. Within the current academic year it has hosted over 90 international events, such as conferences, seminars, short-term courses, visits of delegations and many others.
