Command and Staff Faculty is one of RDSC essential bodies.
Mission
The mission of the ‘Command and Staff’ Faculty is to train the future military and civilian leaders of the Republic of Bulgaria capable of controlling and managing the units of the Bulgarian Armed Forces and the units of the rest of the elements of the system of national security and defence on a tactical and operational level , to win in military operations and to effectively conduct peacekeeping, humanitarian and other non-military operations, in this manner realizing the second level of higher military education.
Main goals :
Acquisition of systematic knowledge of the nature, content, principles and regularities of the organization and management of the Bulgarian Army structures;
Acquisition of systematic knowledge of the political, economic and legal fundamentals of defence, as well as the necessary skills to participate in the implementation of the national defence policy through applying this knowledge and skills in the Bulgarian Army structures activities;
Acquisition of systematic knowledge of the psychological aspects of warfare as well as developing military leadership skills to be applied successfully in the Bulgarian Army structures;
Forming a new pattern of student thinking and development of leadership and management qualities, necessary for working within multinational joint task forces teams, in crises and war time;
Development of operational thinking, ability to adapt quickly to the changing environment, decision making skills and the will to implement them.
Enhancing concepts of the armed forces role in the process of establishing and developing civil-military relations, as well as the military aspect in asserting national interests;
Conducting scientific and applied research in the field of military science, social relations and defence policy, the contemporary socio-economic processes and development of the armed forces, the psychological aspects of combat and army leadership, modern challenges of public and mass media relations;
Participation in international and national academic cooperation in the field of military education as well as research in modern socio-political and military processes and activities.
Main objectives:
To study the theory and practice of combat in accordance with the contemporary state of affairs and officersÕ development as commanders and experts for working in operational and tactical structures for command and management;
To develop practical leadership, teamwork and decision making skills, using modern methods and technologies and in accordance with the countryÕs participation in the Euro-Atlantic structures.
To foster and develop skills for analyzing scientific and practical issues concerning national security, defence policy and their application in the functioning and reforms of the armed forces;
To train officers in the content and application of NATO standard agreements as well as specialized foreign language education.
