Section work includes three basic directions Ð research work in problem areas, expert work and educational qualification work.
Highly qualification specialists with wide experience in the field of making projects and systems for special purpose work in the section. The potential of science specialists consists of five having academic rank as one of them is a D.Sc and six have doctorÕs. degree. Head of the section is Col. senior research associate II degree, D.Sc. Branimir Zhekov.
The research work is centered on the realization of scientifically applied research in the field of modern information and communication technologies and methodologies in the defence and security system. Working groups in the section develop applied projects of lots of programmes. Some of them are technical safety devices and systems, acoustic systems for detection and recognition; safety of information in the computer webs and systems, methods and software tools for armament assessment, equipment and property. One of the basic research priorities is the participation of scientific workers from the section in national and international applied scientific projects, connected with the country engagements in the Action Plan for NATO membership. Targets of work are also analyses, suggestions, tactical and technical tasks for technical and information systems modernization in accordance with NATO standards. Research is being done on strategic and perspective topics as simulation models and systems, geographic information systems, S412 systems for air defence and operational reconnaissance. Scientific workers from the section participate in the work of different committees of NATO Research and Technology Agency as national representatives.
Expert work is directed to prepare stand-points and expert evaluations on different science and technical problems on given subject areas connected with the Bulgarian Armed Forces modernization and rearmament, participation in expert technical and economic committees and councils of MoD and other state administration and organizations.
Scientific workers from the section carry out their educational and scientific work as instructors at CISCO ÔRakovskiÕAcademy, as lecturers at ÔRakovskiÕ Defence and Staff College faculties and civilian Higher Institutes. Regular and extra- mural post-graduates are successfully trained in the section. Some of them have already acquired DoctorÕs degree.
Scientific workers from the section deliver papers at international seminars and symposia on the project of NATO Research and Technology Agency as well as at national conferences in their problem areas.
