“Military Strategy and Challenges of the 21 st Century” Conference
took place in Rakovski Defense and Staff College

A Conference “Military Strategy and Challenges of the 21 st Century” was opened in Rakovski Defense and Staff College on 25 March 2008 . The Dean of the National Security and Defense Faculty, Colonel Boris Bogdanov, PhD, Associate Professor, emphasized in his speech that the subject of military strategy are both war and peace. The military strategies of nations, coalitions and alliances define the changes in the organization and use of the armed forces. This change in views is connected to the process of globalization and the innovations in information technologies, which bring changes in all spheres of both public and military activities. The concept for use of the armed forces in military-political and humanitarian crises is also new.

The key speaker of the Conference was the Head of Military Strategy Chair, Colonel Mitko Hinkov, Associate Professor, PhD. The Conference was attended by military leaders, lecturers, researchers, experts, students, and faculty members. They presented and discussed current issues in military strategy, related to NATO Transformation in defense and the armed forces.
