JAPAN AGAINST RUSSIA
IN THE SKY OF NOMONHAN

Dimitar Nedialkov

This book is an emotional tale of one not so well-known military Air clash begun in May and finished on September 15th 1939 (15 days after Germany invaded Poland). Isn't this local conflict between the two empires the actual beginning of WW II? The crash of the Japanese made them move their striking power East against USA and UK in the Pacific Strategic Area.

This changed the history for decades ahead.

The conflict characteristic feature is the importance of the Air Power in the achieving of the decisive final results.

The level of massiveness and intensity of this air battle reaches levels without analogue even in WW II.

The four months conflict, which took part in a theatre of operations with dimensions of some 80km front line and 30-40km depth became a battle field for more than 900 Soviet and 450 Japanese aircraft.

The air conflict that continued plains took part.

Col. prof. Dimitar Nedialkov Ph. D. is still an active pilot with more than 1500h flying hours on L-29, MiG-15, MiG-17, MiG-21 and Su-22. As a scientist he has 57 publications, including 11 monographs.

The most recent ones are "The Genesis of Air Power", "Air power of the Kingdom of Bulgaria" and "Bulgarian Fighters".

Provoked by this not so well-researched period of Air Power history the author hopes to get the attention of the aviation fans.
